Dash & Firewall Restoration - Part 8 - 02/27/2015

Rounding the home stretch. Major work done, just need to put it all back together.

Dash is in! Not a perfect fit but it beats the previous warped and holey version...

Fender antenna was found coiled up here in the door jamb. It goes through a hole in the cowl to the left of the wire in the middle of the photo.

Fortunately the previous owner didn't chop it up, it's in good shape and ready to install.

LOTS of electrical to hook up here...

That metal cable above the gas pedal is the defrost door adjustment cable. It did NOT want to go on. It's also 1/4" too long, but I don't think it will be an issue, that just means there will be some defrost when the heater is selected, which isn't a bad thing. My poor fingers are numb from fighting this cable for an hour in the 40F garage...

Heater door cable (green band) and temperature adjuster cables put on. The heater door cable was the ONLY reproduction one that fit perfectly. The temperature cable was actually 4" too long and there was NO way to make it work. I ended up reusing the original one since it was still in decent shape. Whoever authorized that reproduction made a mistake...

Passenger door light switch is snaked through and routed, ready for the door switch to be installed.

And after 90 minutes of fighting that little bit, it's too cold to do any more and I will resume in the morning with the garage heater on. Looking like a new car in many aspects though! Definitely see the light at the end of the tunnel.
