Frame Mounts - 04/20/2019

If I'm going to put an engine back in this car I'll need to put the frame mounts back on.

First things first, vacuum out the engine compartment of all the dirt and trash.

Yet another car with overspray on the cowl through the hood, the height of laziness on some painter in the past. At least it's cleaned off and not rotten.

Motor mounts are found in the trunk under the spare and ready to install. Yes, they are different sizes and it does matter which way they go!

Since the original mounting hardware was nowhere to be found, I went to Home Depot and picked up some nice plated grade 8 bolts. Overkill, but it's what they had.

Mounts are installed. The driver's side is the taller one because of the angle of the frame. The rear set of holes is correct for the Grandville and Bonneville as they have a larger nose and a different frame (and thus different location for the transmission crossmember!). The forward set of holes is correct for the station wagons and the Catalina.

Pretty straightforward job!
