First Pictures - 07/09/2014

Ever since I moved to TN and obtained a house, I've been looking for a truck. Not because I want to fit in with my "The South Will Rise Again" flag stickers and jack it to the sky while rolling coal, but because when you own your own house and are responsible for maintenance, you are limited on what you can fit in the back of a 2013 Kia Soul! and a 2010 Prius (and the '69 Lemans does not get to cart junk around either). A truck makes more sense to be able to haul gravel or mulch, removed old logs (of which there are many), and generally get things done. Otherwise you're paying someone else $50-100/trip to use theirs or have it delivered\removed for you. That adds up when you've got 4 or 5 trips per month that need to be handled. Audrey suggested one of the new F150s or F250s and while I do like them (VERY nice trucks) getting a car payment for what amounts to a vanity\luxury truck that will be used to perform household tasks and scrap cars is a bit excessive.

So I told Steve of my plans and was showing him the local color of trucks. He was impressed by the amount of available trucks out here, but not exactly impressed with the prices or condition of most. Neither was I really. So he found this 1995 F250 super cab long bed 460 at a customer's shop that the guy wanted to get rid of. Asking price? $2000. Kind of hard to argue with that! Even if I had to ship it or drive it myself it's 1/2 of what a truck out here goes for and this one had all the options plus working AC. Cue the pictures:

Front hitch supposedly doesn't come with it.

Steps to help you get up in it.

The long bed, identifiable because the forward gas tank fuel door is 12" further back from the cab.

Interior is decent.

Power options are always welcome.

Check out that heavy duty bumper and lights package! Red sticker is from 2009, which would be over 5 years of back fees, hence why the vehicle was so cheap...

80.9k miles? For a 20 year old truck? That's 350 miles per month... Overdrive is another thing I love.

Power seat with lots of adjusters.

Woodgrain trim is nice.

No rot or rust in the door channels or rockers, that's where they ALWAYS start to rust in every truck.

Seats are nice, love that console with cup holders.

Nice back seat, probably had no one in it ever.

XLT package.

Original brochure.

Sure, it's in San Diego. But for the price if nothing is wrong with it, how can you argue? I see rustier examples out here for $3-4k all the time. And 80.9k miles is practically brand new still. I didn't have to think long on getting out the checkbook...
